For 65 years, the department of behavioral science has engaged in transformative research and provided exceptional educational opportunities for learners. Founded in 1959 by William R. Willard, MD, the first dean of the X站福利所, and Robert 鈥淏ob鈥 Straus, PhD, the department was the first of its kind in the United States.

Dr. Justin Moore and Dr. Kristen McQuerry

CHET primary faculty member Justin X. Moore, PhD, is co-leading a summer programming workshop for high school students called Biostat Prodigy. This 5-day immersive workshop on statistical programming is co-led by Kristen McQuerry, PhD, associate professor in the College of Public Health Department of Biostatistics in partnership with Fayette County Public Schools.

Yolanda Jackson worked for years as a clinical dietitian and University of Kentucky lecturer in dietetics and human nutrition before she decided to pursue a PhD in health communication 鈥攁 field she describes as a 鈥渕issing link鈥 for making a positive impact in public health.

CHET primary faculty member, Elizabeth Rhodus, PhD, MS, OTR/L, was appointed to the Kentucky Alzheimer鈥檚 Disease and Related Disorders Advisory Council through an executive order issued by Governor Beshear on October 3, 2023.

The University of Kentucky鈥檚 Research Scholars Program (RSP) has welcomed its fourth cohort made up of six faculty whose expertise spans a broad range of research foci. The program is aimed at advancing research by promoting the success of a diverse group of faculty.
